En este dinámico curso los estudiantes se introducen a la fotografía arquitectónica a través de conferencias, discusiones prácticas de equipo apropiado, en el campo y trabajan en Adobe Photoshop.

Primer aprendizaje acerca de los pioneros fotográficos que hizo fotografías arquitectónicas en el siglo XIX, los estudiantes se asignan entonces estructuras históricas para fotografiar en el estilo de estos primeros practicantes, como Gustave le Grey y Baldus.

Las siguientes charlas examinan fotografía arquitectónica contemporánea y el movimiento modernista, mirando específicamente el trabajo de Julius Shulman y Ezra Stoller; artistas que usan la fotografía arquitectónica para examinar conceptos más, como Andreas Gursky y Andrew Moore; y por último, una sesión especial dedicada a fotografiar interiores.

Durante la clase nos va fotografiando arquitectura icónica de Nueva York como Flatiron Building de Daniel Burnham y el contemporáneo Frank Gehry IAC building por la línea de alta.

En el laboratorio digital, los estudiantes serán introducidos a herramientas especiales en Adobe Photoshop esa zona en asuntos nativos de fotografía de arquitectura, como la corrección de perspectiva, alto rango dinámico y sofisticada interpretación.

La sesión final se proporciona para una crítica del trabajo realizado durante el curso.
PRERREQUISITOS: PHC-1003, fotografía en blanco y negro, o equivalente y conocimientos del sistema operativo de Macintosh y Adobe Photoshop.

In this dynamic course students are introduced to architectural photography through lectures, practical discussions of appropriate equipment, shooting in the field, and work in Adobe Photoshop.
First learning about the photographic pioneers who made architectural photographs in the 19th century, students are then assigned historic structures to photograph in the style of these early practitioners, such as Gustave le Grey and Baldus.

The following lectures examine contemporary architectural photographers and the modernist movement, specifically looking at the work of Julius Shulman and Ezra Stoller; fine artists who use architectural photography to examine greater concepts, such as Andreas Gursky and Andrew Moore; and lastly, a special session devoted to photographing interiors.

During class we will be photographing iconic New York architecture such as Daniel Burnham’s Flatiron Building and the contemporary Frank Gehry IAC building by the High Line.

In the digital lab, students will be introduced to special tools in Adobe Photoshop that zone in on issues native to architectural photography, such as perspective correction, High Dynamic Range and sophisticated color interpretation.

The final session will provide for a critique of the work made during the course.

PREREQUISITES: PHC-1003, Black-and-White Photography, or equivalent, and a working knowledge of the Macintosh computer operating system and Adobe Photoshop.
